With an abashed expression, Norwalk Safety-Service Diretor Mike White accepts a lucite plaque from Mayor Dave Light. White, who came up with the idea of putting three new pickleball courts atop the concrete bunker at Jaycees Park, relentlessly pursued the project to completion. A ribbon-cutting ceremony and the Maple City Pickleball League season-ending tournament was held Aug. 17 at the park, with Rec Center staffers Ian Berry (left) and Sarah Church (center) running the tourney for 20 two-person teams.
