Section of W. Main St. closing for 6 months

NORWALK — Norwalk drivers are going to face a closure and detour on part of West Main Street next week. It will be on West Main Street between just west of the Northwest and Southwest streets and Valley Park Drive. A part of the West Main Street Reconstruction Project's Phase 2, it begins on Wednesday and is expected to last about six months. The city's public works office provided a detour route for drivers: • For eastbound drivers: Left on Valley Park Drive, right on Jefferson Street to N. Garfield Street to W. Main Street. • For westbound traffic: Use N. Garfield Street to Jefferson Street to Valley Park Drive to W. Main Street. Note: No street parking will be allowed on the detour route. The public works office provided additional context and recommendations: Crews from Underground Utilities will begin working on W. Main Street Phase 2 Reconstruction Project on Wednesday, May 27. They will be working four, ten-hour days with Friday being a rain/make-up day. Residents who live on W. Main St. between Valley Park Dr. and Garfield Ave., please have your trash out to the curb by 7 a.m. for the duration of this project. Residents who live within the area between Valley Park Drive and Northwest Street will have access at all times. Emergency personnel, trash, and school bus traffic will all have access to these areas as well. This project is expected to last approximately six months.
