All-Northwest District boys and girls teams announced

The All-Northwest District girls and boys basketball teams proved just how talented local athletes really are.A grand total of 26 athletes eared All-Northwest District honors on Thursday headlined by 12 girls and 14 boys.Norwalk senior Jiselle Thomas continued to rack up the post season awards as she was named the Division II Northwest District Player of the Year. She was the only Reflector athlete to be named to the Division II first team. She averaged 24 points a game for the Lady Truckers leading them to the first district championship in program history.For Division II boys, Norwalk senior George Friend earned honorable mention as the only Trucker to pick up the post season award.In Division III, the ladies showed off earning five honors. Western Reserve junior Andrea Robson and Willard freshman Cassidy Crawford earned second team All-Northwest District. Robson scored 14-7 points a game while Crawford dropped 14 points and grabbed 10.4 rebounds a night to average a double-double. Western Reserve sophomore Cora Wyers picked up third-team honors after scored 13.5 points a night. Edison senior Kelsey Schuster and Western Reserve's Brooke Ommert earned honorable mention All-Northwest District.For the boys, New London senior Ryan Lane was the only area athlete to earn first-team honors with his 16.2 points a night. Edison's Bryce Ostheimer was named to the second team while Western Reserve's Colton Puder took third team. The Edison duo of James Hill and Bryce Roberts joined Nick Cofer of Willard, Ethan Daub of Willard, Karson Howell of New London and Dale Smith of Western Reserve on the honorable mention All-Northwest District team.Finally, in Division IV, the ladies were headlined by Firelands Conference player of the year Ashley Painley who earned second-team honors while teammate Lauren Lukasko picked up third-team honors. New London's Morgan Luedy and Eden Copley joined Caitlin Good of St. Paul and Kara Schafer of Monroeville as honorable mentions. St. Paul coach Vicky Mahl was named Division IV Northwest District Coach of the Year.For the boys, St. Paul's Brandon McCall was a first-team selection after averaging 14.8 points a night.
