FC meet: Top four area placers

NEW LONDON — The Firelands Conference track and field championships concluded the regular season for six area teams Friday night at New London High School. Western Reserve won the boys meet with 132 points, giving the Roughriders their fourth-ever conference title along with 1966, 2010, and 2011. Mapleton was second with 103 points, followed by Crestview (100), New London (93), Plymouth (74), St. Paul (63), Monroeville (44), and South Central (43). Crestview totaled an impressive 186 points to win the girls title, while South Central (158) was runner-up. Rounding out the standings were St. Paul (110.5), Western Reserve (81), New London (56), Monroeville (29), Mapleton (24.5), and Plymouth (17). Below are the top four placers in order of team finishes from the Friday night events: BOYS Western Reserve The Roughriders had another big night en route to the title, as Hayden Keith dominated the discus throw at 178 feet, 11 inches. His teammate, Travis French, was third at 123 feet, 1.5 inches. The 4x100-meter relay of Xzavian Meagrow, Chase Hipp, Ben Woodrum, and Colton Meagrow won in 44.8 seconds, while the 4x200 team of Peyton Kerby, Lucas Summerfield, Hipp, and Woodrum placed second in 1:36.3. Xzavian Meagrow won the 100-dash in 11.5 seconds, and Colton Meagrow was third in 11.7 seconds. The pair placed second (23.89) and third (23.94) in the 200 dash as well. Hipp was second in the high jump (5 feet, 10 inches), and Woodrum (5 feet, 8 inches) was fourth. Placing fourth were James Weisenberger in the 110 hurdles (17.2) and the 4x400 relay of Summerfield, Edwards, Brice Caudill, and Brexton Fraelich (3:46.9). New London Carter Hicks finished second in the 1600 (4:39.5) and the 3200 (10:09.5) and took fourth in the 800 (2:08.6) to pace the Wildcats Friday night. Garret Carruthers in the 400 (53.9) and Ryan Twining in the 800 (2:03.8) also finished second. The 4x400 relay of Carruthers, Jayden Bracken, Makiah Logan, and Twining also placed second (3:37.5), while Bracken was fourth in the discus (118 feet, 7 inches). Plymouth Izaya Reynolds swept the 200 (23.4) and the 400 (51.1) for the Big Red, while Isaiah Miller was second in both the 110 hurdles (15.7) and the 300 hurdles (41.74). The pair then teamed with Jeric Tackett and Trevor Putt to win the 4x200 in 1:33.6, and then paired with Tackett and Cainan Kilgore to win the 4x400 in 3:36.2. Monroeville Brycen Dunlap was second in the discus throw Friday (137 feet, 3 inches), while Chase Horn in the 100 (11.8) and Dylan Ringer in the 400 (55.1) each finished fourth. St. Paul The Flyers had three third-place finishes and a fourth place on Friday. Adam Dowdell was third in the 800 (2:04.5) and fourth in the 3200 (10:51.9), and he teamed with Kade Houck, Nick Pocos, and Joey Alt to place third in the 4x400 (3:40.1). The 4x200 team of Levi Rospert, Alt, Wyatt Houser, and Pocos took third in 1:37.1, while the 4x100 team of Abel Couch, Pocos, Rospert, and Houser finished fourth in 46.5 seconds. South Central Tanner Back was third for the Trojans in the high jump (5 feet, 8 inches), and Luke Kilgore was fourth in the 300 hurdles (43.7). The 4x200 team of Dean Kirk, Jaxson Strickland, Juan Larios-Chavez, and Back placed fourth in 1:39.2. GIRLS South Central The Trojans had several event winners Friday night to finish as FC runner-up. Lauren Ingram won the long jump (15 feet, 11 inches), while Kaili Ingram was fourth (14 feet, 10.25 inches). Kenlea Blair (34 feet, 9 inches) and Autumn Fry (33 feet, 11 inches) each went 1-2 in the shot put as well. Fry also won the 100-dash (13.1), and Lauren Ingram was third (13.4). Fry was second in the 200 (26.9) as well. Emily Lamoreaux won the 100 hurdles (16.9), with Kaili Ingram placing fourth (18.1). Lamoreaux was third in the 300 hurdles (51.4). Falynn Schumaker was second in the pole vault (10 feet, 6 inches), which saw her tie the FC meet record. She was third in the 400 in 1:05.4. Also for the Trojans, Taylor Smith was fourth in the pole vault (10 feet). Pacing fourth were the 4x100 relay team of Riley Lydy, Lindsey Webb, and Kaili and Lauren Ingram in 54.6 seconds, and the 4x400 team of Lamoreaux, Janya Smith, Ady Stevens, and Schumacher (4:32.2). St. Paul Deanna Vazquez swept the 200 (26.6) and 400 (1:00.2) for the Flyers. She also served as the anchor on the 4x200 with Kira Sandor, Brooklyn Cassidy, and Aubrie Bogard that won in 1:50.3, and the 4x400 with Frances Donnelly, Bogard, and Amelia Stoll that took first in 4:17.4. Placing second included the 4x100 relay of Aubrie Van Dresser, Cassidy, Stoll and Sandor in 53.4 seconds. Stoll was third in the 200 (27.1) and fourth in the 100 (13.4). Donney was fourth in the 400 (1:06.5), as were Scarlett Ross in the 300 hurdles (52.5) and Jenny Schwan in the 800 (2:38.2). Western Reseve Kara Woodruff cruised to first place in the 800 run for the Roughriders in 2:24.4. She teamed with Leigh Osborne, Audree Jackson, and Ally Goebbel to place third in the 4x200 in 1:56.1. Also for Western, Frankie Hoover was third in the long jump (15 feet, 1.75 inches). The 4x100 team of Korissa Fraelich, Jackson, Aubree Zunis, and Maddy Loyer finished third in 54.6 seconds. New London Raeann Mitchell also tied the FC meet record and won the pole vault for the Wildcats at 10 feet, 6 inches. Valery Henry was second in the 1600 (5:47.5) and third in the 3200 (12:59.8), while teammate Hailley Crocket was fourth in both events in 5:47.6 and 13:00.9. New London's 4x400 team of Lillian Denbow, Crockett, Kira Waugaman, and Mitchell finished third in 4:32.1. Monroeville The 4x200 team of Kara Gerber, Kiahna Smith, Sophia Siebert, and Ady Adams was fourth in 1:57.1. Plymouth Distance standout Morgan Follett finished second in the 3200 for the Big Red in 12:25.2.
