Immel paces Norwalk at SBCs

HURON — Norwalk senior Xavi Immel was part of three first-place finishes on Friday at the Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division track and field championships held at Memorial Stadium. Immel won the 800-meter run in 2:18 and the 1600 in 5:19.9. She then led off the 4x400 relay with Saige Konik, Alyssa Gruhlke, and Grace Norris to help in that event in 4:09.55. The Norwalk girls totaled 93 points to place third behind Bellevue (193) and Columbian (109). Konik was third in both the 800 (2:26.1) and the 3200 (12:31.7), while Gruhlke was third in the 200 (27.3). Olive Leavit placed fourth in the 1600 in 5:31.3. The Norwalk boys were paced by Dylan Eggleston, who placed second in the 110 hurdles (16.3) and third in the 300 hurdles (43.3). Clay Heyman was third in the 800 (2:04.4). Placing fourth for the Truckers were Noah Jameson in the 100 (11.5) and Jake Bissell in the 400 (52.3). In relays, the 4x100 team of Colby Ferguson, William Biller, William McKnight, and Jameson placed second in 45.8 seconds. The 4x400 of Derione Johnson, Jameson, Biller, and Bissell placed fourth in 3:34.1. BAY DIVISION Willard girls end third The Crimson Flashes got three first-place finishes in the Bay Division action Wednesday and Friday to total 80 points and finish third behind Huron and Port Clinton. LaMya Hicks won the long jump at a program record of 17 feet, 11.25 inches, while Cora Clark won the high jump at five feet. They both teamed with Mya Stephens and Jocelyn Maynard to win the 4x100 in 50.7 seconds. Clark was second to Hicks in the long jump (16 feet, 8 inches), while Hicks was second in the 100 (12.7). They also both placed second with Stephens and Ilina Detterman in the 4x200 relay in 1:47.6. Paige Adams was second in both the shot put (38 feet, 0.5 inches) and discus (117 feet, 7 inches) for Willard. Corrin Gettys was third in the discus (111 feet, 2 inches), and Emmie Buurma was fourth in the shot put (31 feet, 5.5 inches). Maynard also finished fourth in the 100 hurdles, as did Detterman with Addy Martinus, Helen Acosta Cerda, and Cesiah Placido in the 4x400 relay in 4:28.5. Edison's 4x800 relay team of Claire Michaelis, Lyla Stoll, Juliana Johnson, and Lily Rinser finished third in 10:22.3, while Joy Jordan was third in the pole vault (nine feet). Michaelis was fourth in both the 200 (27.6) and 400 (1:01.8), as was Risner in the 800 (2:28.9). On the boys side, Edison's Trevor Leimeister was second in the 200 (22.5) and fourth in the 100 (11.2). Corbin Thayer was third in the discus (130 feet), and also taking third was the 4x800 relay of Kellen McDonnell, Mason Leber, William Coffman, and Trey Hines in 8:25.6.5. Earning fourth for Edison were Colin Butler in the 300 hurdles (42.9) and Dylan Smith in the shot put (42 feet, 4.5 inches). Willard's 4x400 relay took first place. The team of Dream Mills, Ethan Keefe, Paxton Flores, and Jose Lopez ran the race in 3:31.8. Jonas Tackett was second for the Flashes in the high jump (6 feet, 2 inches). Mills in the 400 (52.7) and Keefe in the long jump (20 feet, 10 inches) each placed third. The 4x200 team of Chase Manlet, Gage Stover, Jacob Beamer, and AJ Speller finished in fourth place in 1:39.7.
