Six contestants vying for Berlin Heights Basket Festival queen title

BERLIN HEIGHTS — Six contestants will vie for the crown at the Berlin Heights Basket Festival next month.The festival will take place Aug. 5 and 6, with the queen's contest set for 7 p.m. Aug. 5 in the gymnasium.Here are descriptions about each queen contestant:• Rebekah Klepper, 17, is the daughter of Michelle and Steve Thom and is sponsored by Cornell's.She is a 12th grader at Edison High School, where her favorite subject is English, and her activities include drama club, community theater, track, show choir and debate team. Her hobbies include singing and acting, and she also works for Kroger and Amazing Moments LLC. After high school, Rebekah Klepper has plans to attend college to study nursing, or perform on Broadway. In ten years, she envisions either working as a registered nurse in a hospital or on Broadway. Klepper's siblings are Sarah, 29; Seth, 27; Lillie, 15: and Rachel, 12.• Hannah McGinley, 17, daughter of Tracy and Bryan McGinley, is a senior at Edison High School.Her favorite school subject is math and her activities include softball, dance, show choir, Interact Club (co-president), Spanish Club, National Honor Society (vice-president), member of Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine's Teen Ambassador Board, Buckeye Girls State, speech and debate and Key Club. She is also employed as a sales associate at Aeropostale. She collects rubber ducks as well as six live ducks. After graduation, Hannah McGinley plans to attend Bowling Green State University and major in psychology. In 10 years, she sees herself happily married and a certified psychologist. Her sibling is Connor McGinley, age 18.• Paige Nealey, 17, is the daughter of Ray and Jean Nealey.The Edison High School 12th grader is sponsored by Burnhams Orchard. Nealey's activities include majorette for the Edison High School band, playing piano for the stage band, second-chair French horn, pep band, and speech and debate team. Her favorite school subject is chemistry. She has enjoyed playing piano for ten years and also likes to crochet. After graduation, Paige Nealey plans to become certified as an air traffic controller and begin employment with the FAA or join the Air Force. In 10 years, she anticipates working as an air traffic controller, possibly married with children. Her sibling is Carson, age 13.• Shelby Pruitt, 16, is the daughter of John and Jackie Pruitt.She is sponsored by Main Street Cafe. A senior at EHOVE and home school of Edison High School, Shelby Pruitt's activities include varsity soccer, Girl Scouts, National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, SkillsUSA, and Chargerette. Her favorite subject is government. She is employed with Summit Motorsports Park and her hobbies include soccer, fishing and shopping. After graduation, Pruitt's plans include attending college to study either dermatology or law, and in 10 years, she wants to make a difference with her chosen career path. She has two siblings: Ashley, 18, and Elizabeth, 14.• Melanie Annette Sayler, 17, is the daughter of Mike and Tammy Sayler.She is a 12th grader at Edison High School, attending the EHOVE Career Center medical careers program, where she enjoys hands-on experience in lab. Melanie Sayler is active in varsity cheerleading, soccer, band, majorette, 4-H, youth group, Chargerette, Girls Scouts and softball. After graduation Sayler plans to attend Bowling Green State University and in ten years pictures herself working in the nursing field. When she is not babysitting, she enjoys spending time with friends and family which includes siblings Nacole, 19; Tyler, 15; and Logan, 12. Sayler is sponsored by Pit Stop Pizza.• Kelsey Schuster, 17, is the daughter of Jeff and Tara Schuster.As a 12th grader at Edison High School, her activities include basketball, volleyball, Key Club, French Club, French Honor Society, National Honor Society, Student Council president, student athlete leadership team, J.O. volleyball, AAU basketball, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Teen Leadership Corps and morning announcement crew. Her favorite subject is science. Kelsey Schuster, who is sponsored by Quarry Hill Orchard, enjoys spending time with her friends and family, and babysits for a number of families and pet sits for her neighbors. She plans to attend college and work toward a career in the medical field. In 10 years Schuster sees herself being successful in her career, starting a family and continuing her education for further career advancement.
