Western blanks Crestview to stay hot

COLLINS — The Western Reserve baseball team stayed hot in the second half of the season with a 5-0 shutout over visiting Crestview in Firelands Conference play on Tuesday. Western is now 9-9 overall and 5-7 in the FC after it started the season with a 1-7 record. In Tuesday's shutout win, Tyler Wood threw a complete-game two-hitter for the Roughriders. He struck out five and walked four on 92 pitches. At the plate, Austin Kolb was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI out of the leadoff spot. Cooper Roe was 2 for 2 with two RBIs, and Hayden Dobias was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Reed Meggitt added a single and an RBI.
