GREENWICH — The South Central baseball team got a complete-game shutout from pitcher Wes June in Friday's 4-0 Firelands Conference win over visiting New London. June allowed just two hits and struck out nine with one walk for the Trojans (8-8, 8-3). At the plate, Kaden Blair was 2 for 3 with an RBI, while Alex Hamons and Jacob Wallen each singled with an RBI for the Trojans. The Polar Bears (14-5, 8-1) host Willard on Tuesday looking to force a co-title with a win. In Friday's game, Eli Hermes was again dominant for the Chargers. He threw a complete-game, two-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts and two walks over his seven innings. Hermes needed just 89 pitches (60 strikes). Jake Fries went the distance on the mound for Monroeville. He allowed a pair of unearned runs on six hits with a strikeout and two walks over the seven innings. Ethan Smiley was 3 for 4 with a double and scored twice for the Eagles. Erickson Pisano singled with two RBI, and Reid Wasserman and Tristan Wise each singled and drove in a run.
