Monroeville FFA hosts banquet

MONROEVILLE — Starting the day off on April 22, FFA members dressed up in camo for the spirit day theme. They began finishing up the final touches for the banquet that started at 6:30 p.m. that evening. The banquet started off by announcing the 2025-2026 officers for the final time, then members served dinner catered by Bone Boys BBQ (brisket, pulled pork, cheesy potatoes, green beans, broccoli salad and cornbread). After dinner, members received all their various awards from different contests. Members participated in a variety of Career Development Events this year; Soil Judging, Public Speaking, Poultry, General Livestock, Agricultural Sales, Forestry and District Job Interview. Another series of awards we presented were the fundraiser awards. The strawberry high sellers were: First place, Kenley Schafer, who sold $348; Second place went to Isaac Krueger, selling $310; and third place was Karissa Scheid, who sold $292. The BBQ and fruit sale went really well this year as well. The standings are as follows: First place, Karissa Scheid selling $1,427 worth; second place goes to Cole and Aiden Myers selling $1,072 worth; and third place goes to Abecka Ruggles selling a total of $854. The standout awards are the Greenhand award, Outstanding Sophomore award, Star Junior award, Outstanding Senior award, State Degree awards, American Degree awards and Honorary Chapter degree award. The Greenhand award goes out to the star freshmen that went above and beyond. This year, Kenley Schafer won the freshman award. For our star sophomore, it went to Abecka Ruggles and Karissa Scheid. Junior award was awarded to a junior who has excelled through FFA and devoted a lot of time and energy. This year's Star Junior was Isaac Krueger. Last but certainly not least the Outstanding Senior award. The Outstanding Senior award went to someone who was truly dedicated to FFA throughout his whole high school career, which was Hayden Ryan. The Honorary chapter degree was awarded to Brad Dunlap. New to our chapter last year, students can earn a varsity letter for FFA. Those who meet the criteria based on a points system receive a letter for participating in FFA activities. The first-year letter winners are Grace Baker, Aiden Myers, Carter Carrol, Garrett Loose, Carter Perry, Cole Myers, Jared Fries, John Welter, Jonny Weilnau, Kenley Schafer, and Mike Scheid. Second letter recipients were Brycen Dunlap, Abbie Bores, Abecka Ruggles, and Karissa Scheid. Our third-year letters went to Hayden Ryan, Cole Perry, Isaac Krueger, Lilly Stein, Taylor Scheid, and Maverick Myers. Finally, the banquet wrapped up with the final introduction of our old officers and the introduction of the new officer team. The new officer team consists of: President Isaac Krueger, vice president Grace Baker, secretary Taylor Scheid, treasurer Lilly Stein, reporter Karissa Scheid, student advisor Abecka Ruggles, sentinel Garrett Loose, parliamentarian Aiden Myers, historian Carter Carrol, chaplain Abbie Bores, greenhand officer Haylee Morman, at large Jared Fries and John Welter.
