Norwalk sweeps Clyde in home dual

The Norwalk track and field program got its final tuneup in before the Sandusky Bay Conference championships with a Lake Division sweep over visiting Clyde on Wednesday at Contractors Stadium. The girls cruised to a 98-29 win over the Fliers, and likewise, the boys rolled to an 85-41 win. Event winners for the Norwalk girls included Olive Leavitt in the 800-meter run (2:37), Xavi Immel in the 1600 (5:18), and Saige Konik in the 3200 (14:13). In hurdles, Ariahna Platte won the 100 (17.7), and Ingrid Lucio won the 300 (58.8). In relays, the 4x100 team of Becca Herborn, Isabelle Copsey, and Olivia Brown had the top time in 1:03.78; the 4x200 of Allison Rothhaar, Olivia Brown, Ryleigh Scheid, and Jemma Camp also won in 1:59.2; and the 4x800 team of Leavitt, Peyson Bigler, Jaylee Dills, and Immel took first in 10:43. The NHS girls had four winners in the field events, including Taryn Temple in the long jump (14 feet, 1 inch) and Adyson Lepley in the pole vault (11 feet). Kinleigh Lesch won the discus throw (108 feet, 4.5 inches), and Libby Lark had the top throw in the shot put (31 feet, 6 inches). Among the event winners for the boys were William Biller in the 100 (11.2), Jake Bissell in the 400 (52.8), and Clay Heyman in the 800 (2:10). Dylan Eggleston won the 110 hurdles (15.9), and Jason Cruz Segovia won the 3200 (11:07). The Truckers also won three relays, including the 4x100 team of Colby Ferguson, Biller, William McKnight, and Isaiah Kelsey (1:03.2). The 4x200 relay of Ferguson, Anthony Hall, Biller, and Noah Jameson (1:37.5) also took first, as did the 4x400 of Jameson, Biller, Derione Johnson, and Bissell (3:46). Field event winners included Kingston Green in both the shot put (39 feet, 1 inch) and the discus (107 feet, 6 inches). Cullen Larson won the high jump (5 feet, 2 inches), while Francisco Buenrostro won the pole vault (seven feet), and Jameson took first in the long jump (20 feet, 5 inches). The first day of the final SBC championship meet for the Truckers is set for Tuesday (May 12) at Perkins High School. The finals then shift to Huron on Friday (May 15).
