Voters reject proposed library levy

NORWALK — Voters rejected a proposed additional levy for the Norwalk Public Library on Tuesday, according to unofficial results from the Huron County Board of Elections. With all 17 precincts reporting, the levy failed by a vote of 1,606 to 1,208, or 57.07% to 42.93%. The 1.7-mill, 30-year levy sought funding for renovating, remodeling, furnishing and improving the library. The issue followed a failed ballot measure in November tied to expansion and construction plans for the library system. Previous Norwalk Reflector reporting stated the earlier proposal would have funded construction tied to the former Hill's Interiors property and additional library improvements.
