Boose wins GOP commissioner primary

NORWALK — Terry Boose won the three-way Republican primary for a full-term seat on the Huron County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, according to unofficial results from the Huron County Board of Elections. Boose received 2,229 votes, or 45.18%, finishing ahead of Jeffery Ritz with 1,598 votes and Royden H. Smith with 1,107 votes. "I thank the voters for having confidence in me and I will work hard for the people of Huron County," Boose told the Reflector on Wednesday. "I also thank my two opponents and hope they will remain politically active to serve in the future." The race was the highest-profile contested county race on the primary ballot. According to previous Norwalk Reflector coverage, Republicans Boose, Ritz and Smith each campaigned on county finances, economic development and infrastructure issues during the primary campaign. Boose will advance to the November general election held on Nov. 3, 2026. He faces a sole challenger in Libertarian Cassaundra Fryman, who ran unopposed in her primary Tuesday. There are no Democrats in the race. Republican Bob Morgan, appointed last year to fill the seat vacated by Brad Mesenburg, also ran unopposed for a second county commission seat and does not face a challenger.
