Edison splits with BG at Old Fort

OLD FORT — The Edison softball team split a pair of close games against Bowling Green at the Ron Rau Memorial tournament on Saturday at Old Fort High School. The Chargers opened with a 5-4 win over the Bobcats, as they scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead for good. Natalie Desautels led the Edison (12-4) with three hits and an RBI. Stella Brown was 2 for 4 with a double, while Abby Cloud and Macari Harris each had a double and an RBI. Peyton Bissell also doubled and scored. Cloud was the winning pitcher for Edison. She allowed four runs (one earned) on five hits with four strikeouts and four walks over seven innings. B. Harris was 2 for 3 with a home run and a solo home run in the loss for Edison, while Desautels had two singles and scored a run. Cloud and Peyton Taylor each singled with an RBI, and Lariah McMinn and Bissell each added singles. Jordyn Perry took the loss for Edison. She allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits with two strikeouts and four walks. Plymouth (2-16) had five different players with multiple hits. Presley Martin finished 3 for 5 with a pair of doubles and an RBI, while Zarah Plank was 3 for 5 with a double and two RBIs. Makayla Cunningham also had three hits and two RBIs. She also scored four times. Makayla Bowman was 2 for 5 with two RBIs, and Kristi Yeager was 2 for 3 with two RBIs. Madison Montgomery went seven innings in the circle and allowed 11 runs (eight earned) on 14 hits. She struck out three and walked three. Tied at 3-3 after one inning, the Big Red scored seven runs in the second, only for the Bucks to counter with a six-run fourth to trail 11-9. Plymouth then removed double with eight runs in the top of the fifth inning. Five of the first six batters for the Big Red had multiple hits, led by Lex Grose, who was 3 for 4 with two doubles and three RBIs. Lincoln Distl was 3 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs, while Jarrett Burrer was 2 for 4 with a double and drove in three. Also for the Big Red, Lucas Distl was 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI, and Weston Kamann was 2 for 6 with an RBI. Keegan Beverly and Seth Love each singled and drove in a pair. Evan King pitched three innings to earn the win. He allowed three runs (one earned) on four hits with two strikeouts and two walks. Plymouth entertains Western in FC play on Monday.
