Norwalk rolls past Bellevue for fifth sraight

BELLEVUE — The Norwalk softball team stayed red hot with Thursday's 20-7 rout over host Bellevue for an SBC Lake Division win at Robert Peters Park. Norwalk has won five straight games overall and six of its last seven to improve to 9-9 overall and 5-2 in the SBC Lake. The Truckers trail Clyde (8-7, 4-1) in the standings and, with a win at Tiffin Columbian on Friday, have the chance to cap a stretch of five wins in five days. In Thursday's win, Maddie Gamble finished 4 for 6 with a pair of doubles and a home run while driving in six and scoring four runs from the leadoff spot. Alexis Dellisanti was 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs, while Scarlet Schneider and Audryn Ott each had two hits and two RBIs. Reagan Mooney added two hits and an RBI, and Saige Viock singled and also drove in a run. Sophia Ames went 3 1/3 innings for the win. She allowed seven earned runs on nine hits with a strikeout. Viock pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings and allowed just one hit with three strikeouts and four walks. After visiting Columbian on Friday, the Truckers host the Lady Red in a resumed game on Monday. Norwalk is trailing 3-2 in the top of the fifth inning. Bellevue has a runner on third base with two outs.
