South Central, St. Paul win at tri-meet

GREENWICH — Host South Central won the girls tri-meet, and St. Paul won on the boys side in a Firelands Conference matchup that also included Crestview on Tuesday. It was the second of two FC meets the Trojans hosted on their new all-weather track surface. South Central scored 70.5 points, followed by Crestview (51) and St. Paul (47.5) in the girls meet. Event winners for the Trojans included Autumn Fry in the 100-meter dash (13 seconds) and the shot put (33 feet 10 inches). Emily Lamoreaux also won two events, claiming first in the 100 hurdles (17.4) and the 300 hurdles (51.8). Also for the Trojans, Ady Stevens won the 800 (2:46.1) and the 3200 (15:28.8), while Lauren Ingram cleared five feet to win the high jump. For St. Paul, Deanna Vazquez won the 200 (26.85), and Amelia Stoll took first in the 400 (1:06.7), while Kate Ware won the 1600 in 6:32.9. In relays, the 4x200 team of Kira Sandor, Brooklyn Cassidy, Aubrie Bogard, and Vazquez won for St. Paul in 1:52.2. The 4x400 quartet of Frances Donnelly, Bogard, Stoll, and Vazquez won in 4:26.9, and the 4x800 team of Jenny Schwan, Donnelly, Kennedie Frazee, and Ware won in 11:44.9. St. Paul scored 68 points to win the boys meet, finishing ahead of the Cougars (46) and Trojans (44). Levi Rospert won both the 100 (12.2) and 200 (25.5) sprints for the Flyers, while Adam Dowdell also won the 400 (55.3), and Tanner Denman won the 1600 (5:43.3). In field events, Rocco Rizzo won the discus (123 feet, 3 inches), and Cam Coetzee won the shot put (40 feet, 3 inches). In relays, the 4x100 team of Abel Couch, Nick Pocos, Vinny Caizzo, and Wyatt Houser took first in 47.4 seconds. The 4x200 of Hunter Springer, Joey Alt, Houser, and Pocos won in 1:37.7, and the 4x400 team of Owen Thimke, Dowdell, Hudson Davis, and Alt took first in 3:51.5. For South Central, Luke Kilgore won the 110 hurdles (17.6) and the 300 hurdles (44.6). Ethan James took first in the 800 in 2:15.5, and he teamed with Juan Larios, Trent Bigler, and Jacob Putt to win the 4x800 relay in 9:41.5.
