Master Gardeners hosting plant sale

Huron County Master Gardeners are busy. Plant sale coordinators Ann Schloemer and Cathy Weber, and about 25 members, just recently showed up at the OSU Muck Research Station in Willard to plant plugs for the coming plant sale, Saturday, May 16, at the fairgrounds. Since, in the past, the Master Gardeners have helped the Muck Station prepare native plants for university pollinator programs, OSU has allowed the local group to use the greenhouse facility. Besides planting plugs, members have been digging plants from their own gardens: perennials, bulbs and ground covers. The plant sale is May 16, at the fairgrounds in Building 25, 8-11 a.m. If you want a spot to sell your own produce or plants, call Cathy Weber, 419-706-6171, for details. Set-up is Friday, May 15, until 5 p.m. and also before 7 a.m. Saturday morning. All purchases are donations; funding the many Master Gardener projects, such as scholarships, downtown planting, providing speakers and other events for the public. It hasn't been really warm, but come to the plant sale, talk to other gardeners and get some bargains to jump-start your veggie garden and flowers.
