Western walks off NL for FC win

COLLINS — The Western Reserve baseball team scored three times in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat visiting New London by a 6-5 score Thursday in a Firelands Conference game. Western (3-6, 2-5) trailed 5-3 entering the final frame. Gavin Trzil was 4 for 4 with an RBI and scored three times for the Roughriders. He also earned the pitching win by recording three outs in the seventh. Also for Western, Caleb Pausch was 2 for 3, while both Blake Welch and Hunter Miller each doubled with an RBI. For NL (6-7, 0-5), Keith Squire tripled with an RBI, while Gabe Ellis and Brody Sword each singled with an RBI. St. Paul 11, Plymouth 1NORWALK — The Division VII No. 7-ranked Flyers are in sole possession of first place after Thursday's run-rule win in six innings over the Big Red. Landon Fries finished 3 for 4 with a double and drove in two for the Flyers (11-2, 6-1). Gabe Snyder was 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs, and both Brady Fritz and Izaac Snyder each had a hit and an RBI. On the mound, Alex Marsh allowed one earned run on three hits over six innings. He struck out eight and walked four. Plymouth fell to 7-5 overall and 4-2 in the FC ahead of Friday's rematch at home. Evan King, Jarrett Burrer, and Keegan Beverly had the three hits for the Big Red. Also for Monroeville, Ethan Smiley was 2 for 3 with an RBI, and Tristan Wise was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Colt Clark added two hits. For South Central (4-7, 4-3), Wes June was 3 for 4 with an RBI.
