Bellevue grabs lead in suspended game

NORWALK — Visiting Bellevue scored twice in the top of the fifth inning to take a 3-2 lead before a fast-moving thunderstorm suspended Wednesday's SBC Lake Division softball game at Norwalk. The Truckers had scored once in the second and fourth innings, respectively, to take a 2-1 lead. Before the game was stopped, Skyler Helton and Maddie Gamble each singled with an RBI for Norwalk (4-8, 1-1). Sophia Ames allowed two earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts and three walks in 4 2/3 innings. On Thursday, the Truckers are scheduled to resume a game against Clyde that was also stopped by rain on April 10. The Fliers lead 11-3 in the top of the fifth inning. Norwalk will then host Sandusky in another league game on Friday, followed by a non-league game on Monday against New London. Willard 10, Vermilion 2 VERMILION — The Crimson Flashes scored five runs in the top of the first to stop a three-game losing streak in the SBC Bay Division in Wednesday's win over the host Sailors. Kenley Bond paced Willard (6-7, 1-3) in the win. She was 4 for 5 with a double and scored twice. Ellie Whitright was 3 for 4 with an RBI, and Ava Deel singled and had three RBIs, while Natalie Slone was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Adalyn Michalski singled with two RBIs, and Meredith Ames also singled with an RBI. In the circle, Deel allowed a pair of unearned runs on eight hits over seven innings for the win.
