NMS relay breaks program record

CLYDE — The Norwalk Middle School track and field program had another big day in a tri-meet on April 13 at Clyde High School. The 4x400-meter relay team of Hunter Knoll, Carter Pelton, Caleb Cross, and Zane Daniels finished with a time of 3:52.36. The previous mark of 3:52.71 was held by Aiden Reeder, Antwaine Porter, Elliot Gahring, and Casey Kromer. The Truckers also competed at the Briar Middle School Invitational on April 18, which saw the NMS girls win the team title. Londynn Clifton in placed first in both the 100 and 200 hurdles for the Truckers. Lilli Kipp was first in the discus throw and third in the shot put, while Stella Kipp was second to her sibling in the discus. The 4x800 relay of Brynn Sellers, Adelinn Sitterly, Lily Miller, and Layla Koch also placed first. Koch was third in the 800 in 2:43.52, and third in the 1600, which was just ahead of the fourth-place Sitterly. The 4x100 relay of Liv Darovich, Kalli Oates, Evie Stowers, and Clifton placed third, while the 4x400 of Sellers, Sitterly, Addie Hance, and Kayla Naseman finished in fourth place. The NMS boys placed sixth with the 4x400 of Brysen Risner, Pelton, Cross and Daniels placing second. Daniels was third in the 400 (57.94), as was Risner in the high jump at 5 feet 6. Norwalk's lone home meet of the season was scheduled for Monday. on Friday, the Truckers head to the Margaretta Relays in Castalia. Also competing at the Briar Middle School meet was South Central, which saw its boys program place fifth among the 18 teams. The South Central 4x800 relay team of Zach Fidler, Evan Gillum, Carson Honeycutt and Rodrigo Lopez placed second in 10:21. Kason Lucal tied for second in the pole vault (seven feet), while Isaac Lamoreaux was second in the 110 hurdles (17.76) and the 200 hurdls (27.88), and was third in the long jump (17 feet 3.5). Lopez was fourth in the 800 (2:29) and Fidler was sixth in the 400 (59.42). The 4x400 relay of Fidler, Evan Gillum, Case Codeluppi, and Lopez was seventh in 4.27.
