An update on avenue project

NEW LONDON — Spring is here, and village administrator Shawn Pickworth told council last week that the New London Avenue project is on track, with pipe being installed and paving scheduled for the end of the month. He said April is fire hydrant flushing month. New water meter installation is ongoing, and anyone receiving a meter installation tag is asked to contact the village for an appointment. The schedule for auxiliary water source inspections is on the village website. Police Chief Joe Hicks thanked Officer Gerald Broeckel, as well as other officers and deputies, for work on a drug case. He gave a report on the Flock camera system and said there are questions about its cost and whether it will continue after year-end. The Reservoir Campground opens May 1, and council will act on a firewood distribution system at the next meeting. Also on the agenda will be action on plans for a new park office. Council passed resolutions for sale of outdated and unneeded property and the purchase of a used cardboard baler for $1,380. A resolutionto continue emergency management service with the county was introduced. Spring Cleanup is 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on April 19 and April 25 and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 20–24.
