Myers pitches Trojans past Western

GREENWICH — The South Central softball team got a strong effort from pitcher Zaida Myers on Tuesday to complete a two-game Firelands Conference sweep over Western Reserve. Myers allowed one earned run on three hits with seven strikeouts and three walks in a complete-game effort. She threw 103 pitches (62 strikes) over the seven innings. Ella Sanders was 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs for the Trojans (5-6, 2-2), while Ember Phillips was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, and Sydney Middaugh was 2 for 4 with a double. Makayla Case hit a solo home run in the fourth inning for Western (0-7, 0-4). Layken Barnhart and Hannah Buchanan added singles.
