Norwalk tennis sweeps Perkins for league win

PERKINS TWP. — The Norwalk boys tennis team picked up its first SBC Lake Division win of the season on Thursday with a road sweep over host Perkins. The Truckers swept all five positions to improve to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the league. Jeremiah McCreary swept Preston Miller at first singles (6-0, 6-0), while Roman Snyder dropped just one game at second singles in a win over Aaron Benkirane (6-0, 6-1). At third singles, Andrew Klett beat Logan Cooley (6-0, 6-2). The first doubles team of Edward Ramos and Jack Pittenger beat Jaden Lyons and Hayden Wright in a sweep (6-0, 6-0). The No. 2 pairing of Levi Dickerson and Jacob Burger beat Nathan Reynolds and Anders VanNess (7-6 (1), 6-0). Norwalk will return to Perkins on Saturday for the Pirate Doubles Invitational. The Truckers host Sandusky on Monday in another SBC Lake match. BASEBALL Monroeville 8, SJCC 2 FREMONT — The Eagles used a five-run fifth to top the host Crimson Streaks on Thursday. On the mound, Monroeville's Erickson Pisano went all seven innings for the win. He allowed two unearned runs on four hits with four strikeouts and four walks. At the plate, Tristan Wise was 3 for 3 with an RBI for the Eagles (5-1). Alex Dowell and Reid Wasserman each had two hits, while Owen Patchen singled with two RBIs.
