Truckers top Sandusky in nine innings

SANDUSKY — The Norwalk softball tam scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning to open SBC Lake Division play with a 6-4 win over host Sandusky on Wednesday. Alexis Dellisanti singled and reached third on a fielder's choice by Lola Schlotterer to start the ninth for the Truckers (3-5, 1-0). Both players scored on an error and a two-run single by Maddie Gamble. Reagan Mooney then added an RBI single to score Gamble. Gamble was 3 for 5 out of the leadoff spot, and Audryn Ott was 3 for 4 and scored twice. Sage Viock also triple and scored. In the circle, Sophia Ames went all nine innings for the win. She allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits and finished with 13 strikeouts and just two walks. Norwalk entertains Clyde on Friday in league play before closing out the week with a non-league game against Ontario on Saturday. Monroeville (5-2, 2-0) led 5-2 after three innings, only for Plymouth (1-5, 0-2) to score four in the top of the fourth to retake the lead. The Eagles then added three runs each in the fourth and sixth innings before Plymouth rallied with four runs in the top of the seventh. The tying run was on third base when Payton Weilnau got a strikeout to end the game. Madi Reiber finished 3 for 4 with two doubles, an RBI, and scored three times for Monroeville. Weilnau was 2 for 2 with a double, two RBIs, and scored twice. Brook Moreman also had two hits and an RBI for the Eagles, with Alayna Tyler adding a double and an RBI, and Taylor Scheid singled with an RBI. Weilnau struck out seven and walked two in relief for the win. She allowed five earned runs on two hits in 3 2/3 innings. For Plymouth, Kristi Yeager was 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs. Makayla Cunningham singled with an RBI, and Presley Martin was 2 for 4 with an RBI, while Makayla Bowman doubled with two RBIs.
