Norwalk falls to Ashland; Chargers split two

NORWALK — The Norwalk High School boys tennis team hosted Ashland in a non-league match and were swept by a 5-0 score at the Norwalk Middle School courts on Tuesday. At first singles, Jeremiah McCreary lost to Oscar Haynes , 7-6 (5), 6-1. Roman Snyder lost a three-set match at second singles to David Swartzentruber, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3. At third singles, Andrew Klett fell to Harold Song (6-3, 6-1). The No. 1 doubles team of Edward Ramos and Jack Pittenger lost to Grant white and Grant Koleno (6-1, 6-1). At second doubles, Levi Dickerson and Jacob Burger fell to Mark Cyders and Charlie Hovey (7-6 (2), 6-4). The Truckers (1-3) are scheduled to visit Perkins in an SBC Lake Division match on Thursday, then return to Perkins for the Pirate Doubles Invitational on Saturday. Clyde 4, Edison 1 CLYDE — The Chargers dropped Monday's non-league match to the host Fliers, but claimed a win at second singles. Kaden Mees won for Edison with a win in three sets over Connor Eastby, which included a tie-break. Mees posted scores of 6-3, 0-6, and 11-9. At first singles, Adin Colbert fell to Aric Kauble (6-2, 6-1), while Wade Ruggles dropped his match to Cole Sengstock at third singles, 4-6, 6-0, 6-0. At first doubles, Mary Moon and Jace Pinkston lost to Chase Castle and Oscar Webb (6-1, 6-0). The No. 2 doubles team of Oz Rutger and Brooks Ballah lost to Trenton Brown and Alex Barrett (6-0, 6-1). Edison 4, Calvert 1 MILAN — The Chargers (2-2) bounced back with a league win on Tuesday over the visiting Senecas. Colbert defeated Liam Herbert at first singles (6-0, 6-0), while Mees topped Owen Link (6-1, 6-0) at second singles. Calvert won at third singles, as Dante Fabrizio beat Moon (6-3, 6-1). In doubles, Ruggles and Kellyn Ritchie beat Emma Marben and Hannah Spaun at the No. 1 spot (6-0, 6-2). At No. 2 doubles, Rutger and Pinkston defeated Liam Schumm and Drew Meyer (6-0, 6-3).
