Norwalk beats Old Fort for second win

NORWALK — The Norwalk softball team stopped a three-game losing streak with an 8-5 win over visiting Old Fort in a non-league game on Tuesday at NHS. The Truckers broke a 2-2 tie after the top of the third inning with two runs in each of the third, fourth, and sixth innings, respectively. Scarlet Schneider paced Norwalk (2-5) at the plate in the win. She finished 3 for 4 with an RBI double in the sixth inning as she drove in four of the team's eight runs. Maddie Gamble singled twice and scored twice out of the leadoff spot for the Truckers. Saige Viock, Audryn Ott, Sophia Ames, and Lola Schlotterer each singled as well. In the circle, Ames pitched all seven innings for the win. She allowed six runs (two earned) on six hits with three strikeouts and six walks. Norwalk will continue its busy week with the SBC Lake opener on Wednesday at Sandusky. The Truckers then host Clyde n Friday and Ontario on Saturday for five games in six days. Hailie Pylant was 2 for 3 with a double for New London (4-5, 0-2), while Olivia Yetter was 2 for 2 with a double. Pailee Wilson also doubled and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Chloe Cooke.
