South Central wins slugfest over Tigers

GREENWICH — The South Central softball team held off a late rally from visiting Seneca East in Thursday's high-scoring 15-14 non-league win. Viola Culler was 4 for 5 with a double and a home run for the Trojans (3-2). She drove in four runs, while teammate Ella Sanders was 2 for 4 with a home run and five RBIs. Ember Phillips added three hits and two RBIs, while Sydnee Middaugh and Novaleigh Myers had two hits and an RBI. Zaida Myers also added two hits and scored three times. Sen. Kenley Bond was 2 for 5 with three RBIs, while Emma Seinmentz singled with an RBI, and Brinn Trimner had two hits and scored three times. Madison Montgomery was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI, while Taylor Dean was 2 for 3 with an RBI for the Big Red (1-3). Norwalk (1-3) got two hits from Laney Schlotterer, while Alexis Dellisanti doubled and scored. Scarlet Schneider also singled and drove in a run. Lex Grose hit a three-run home run to break the 2-2 tie. He also pitched the seventh and earned the win in relief of Evan King, who allowed one run on six hits with eight strikeouts over the first four innings. For Willard (0-2), Dalton Reed was 2 for 4 with a double, and Roger Whetstone and Xavier Curtis each singled with an RBI. Henry Thomas singled with two RBIs, walked three times, and also scored four runs for New London (2-1). He was also the winning pitcher, throwing all seven innings with 12 strikeouts and three walks. He allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits. Also for the Wildcats, Gabe Ellis was 2 for 5 with two RBIs, and Brody Sword was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Oliver Harrison singled with two RBIs, and Jarrett Mencl also singled with a run. N. London 105 102 4 — 13 7 4 Lucas 000 200 0 — 2 2 2 WP: Thomas; LP: Anshutz TENNIS Clyde 3, Norwalk 1 CLYDE — The Truckers fell to the league favorite Fliers in Thursday's SBC road matchup. Norwalk (1-2, 0-1) got its lone win at second singles when Roman Snyder beat Connor Eastby (6-3, 6-0). At first singles, Jeremiah McCreary fell to Aric Kauble (6-2, 6-2), while the first doubles team of Edward Ramos and Jack Pittenger lost to Chase Castle and Oscar Webb (6-2, 6-1). The second doubles team of Levi Dickerson and Carter Swick lost two close sets to Trenton Brown and Alex Barrett, 6-4, 7-6 (5). The third singles match between Jacob Burger and Clyde's Cole Sengstock was suspended because of rain. Burger trailed 7-6 (7) and 6-5 when the weather halted the match.
