Smithville pulls away from WR in opener

COLLINS — Visiting Smithville scored eight of its nine runs over the final three innings in Tuesday's 9-1 win over the Western Reserve softball team. The Roughriders had eight hits, but were only able to score once in the season-opening defeat. Lilli Jarrett was 3 for 4 to pace Western, while Makayla Case was 2 for 4 with a double and the lone RBI. Maylee Wetzel, Camryn Olcott, and Josette Spragg each singled. Stella Brown singled twice with two Rbis, while Abby Cloud also had a double and a triple with an RBI. Also for the Chargers, Natalie Desautels was 2 for 4 with a double and scored twice.
