Lazzara voted All-Ohio first team

COLUMBUS — One final recognition came Trinity Lazzara's way on Tuesday. It was the biggest of them all for the Norwalk senior. After leading Norwalk to its third-ever district championship, Lazzara was voted to the Ohio Prep Sports Media's All-Ohio first team in Division III. A panel of OPSMA members from nine districts, along with the association's president and vice president, votes for the all-state teams. Lazzara, who was also Co-Northwest District Player of the Year in Division III with Ashland junior Kennedy Lacey and Toledo Notre Dame senior Kallie Thames, also joined a rare club at Norwalk. She joined Jiselle Thomas (2017) and former teammate Abby Koenig (2025) as the lone first-team all-state selections in program history. Not coincidentally, all three players were starters for Norwalk's three district championship teams as well. In 26 games this season, the 5-foot-7 guard averaged 12.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game for Norwalk. She shot 41 percent from the field and 78 percent from the free-throw line. In two district tournament wins, Lazzara scored 38 points on 15 of 27 shots as the Truckers defeated Ashland and Elida to earn a third trip to the regional round of the OHSAA tournament. She added eight rebounds, five steals, and three assists in the two wins and made the game-tying shot with 8.2 seconds left to force overtime in the title game win over Elida. She finished her Norwalk career with 773 points and also helped the program to its lone league title as a junior as a key starter. Teammate Emmie Leber also earned a spot on the All-Ohio team for the second straight year. Leber, a junior, was honorable mention after she averaged 12.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting 45 percent from the field. A Ms. Basketball finalist and a 2,000-point scorer shared the Div. III Player of the Year honors in Lyndhurst Brush junior Tatiana Mason and Chillicothe Unioto senior Milee Smith. A two-time Ms. Basketball finalist, Mason averaged 24.6 points, 11.4 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 3.3 steals per game this season. Mason is committed to Ohio State. Smith took Unioto to the state semifinals for the first time in 31 years behind 42 points in a regional title win. The University of Dayton commit scored 166 points during the tournament (27.7 points per game). For the season, she averaged 25.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 3.6 steals per game. Smith scored 2,167 career points with 806 rebounds, 386 assists, and 345 steals. Unioto won 56 straight league games with four conference titles and three district championships during her career.
