Annual United Fund dinner set

NORWALK — Tickets are now on sale for a charitable group's annual dinner and auction, set for April 17 at the Huron County Fairgrounds. The event, titled "United in Growth," will run from 6-9 p.m. in the Expo Building at 940 Fair Road. Tickets cost $75 and include dinner, a grazing table, drinks, raffles, silent auctions and games. The Norwalk Area United Fund is a community-based organization founded in 1877. The organization raises and stewards local support to strengthen Huron County's neighbors and fund programs that improve quality of life across the communities served, a release from the organization states. The "United in Growth" evening will also include a live auction led by local auctioneer Don Sweeting. Items include trips to Nashville and Charleston, along with a VIP table for 12 at the 2027 Norwalk Area United Fund annual dinner. "This year, we will celebrate our Sowing Seeds, Growing Community campaign with a Farm-to-Table evening," said Carol Wheeler, executive director of the Norwalk Area United Fund. Wheeler said the organization is nearing its fundraising goal. "Currently, we are more than 90 percent of the way to our $550,000 goal and we thank the community for its generosity," she said. "It's about supporting local nonprofits and programs that serve our community every single day." Organizers are also offering 100 "Golden Tickets" for $100 each. The ticket gives the holder a chance to select any live auction item before bidding begins. "At our event on April 17, we'll draw one lucky winner," Wheeler said. "That person walks away with the right to choose any live auction item first — before the bidding even begins." Tickets can be purchased online at norwalkareauf.org.
