Funds going to nonprofits, schools, other entities in Huron County

NORWALK — At the March 2026 meeting of its board of directors, Huron County Community Foundation awarded nearly $38,900 in charitable community grants to several Huron County nonprofits, schools and municipalities. Projects awarded fill critical needs, create opportunities for youth and further contribute to a thriving community. The foundation's board of directors identified priorities around the youth of the community, whether that be the food that nourishes them and their families or offering art and cultural experiences to expand their worldview. Organizations and projects awarded in the 2026 first-round grants cycle: • Abigail Ministries, $5,000 Willard office expansion for classroom funding • Back to the Wild, $1,000 blood lead analyzer for wildlife rehabilitation avian patients • Bellevue Society for the Arts, $900 for "Dracula" • City of Willard, $1,500 for Rock Around the Clock • Family Health Services, $4,800 for improving vaccine access • Friends of Huron County Park District, $3,000 for Huron County park trail improvements • Kinship/Kinship House, $2,500 for Kinship House siding project • Let's Get Real, $500 for recovery support literature • Monroeville Public Library, $2,500 for enhancing homework helpers with learning computers • New London Schools, $5,000 for community food pantry • North Fairfield Improvement Group, $2,500 for an ADA-accessible restroom for North Fairfield Village Park • Norwalk Area United Fund, $1,200 for the Huron County Imagination Library • Norwalk Schools, $3,000 for fresh fruits and vegetables for summer food program • OHgo, $3,000 for kid/school pantries and homeless food boxes • The Salvation Army, $1,900 for Salvation Army Norwalk kitchen renovation/stainless steel countertops Want to help? "Unrestricted funds help to address the greatest community needs and opportunities as they emerge," according to a foundation statement.
