Jersey Mike's opens in city

NORWALK — A new sandwich shop has opened its doors in Norwalk. Jersey Mike's Subs opened a new location at 101 Plank Road on March 11, adding another national chain restaurant to the city's retail corridor. The store, owned by the Sample family, will mark its opening with a five-day fundraiser supporting the Norwalk Music Booster Club, according to a news release. The event runs through Sunday. Customers who have a special fundraising coupon distributed before the opening and donate at least $3 to the booster club will receive a regular sub in return. Coupons are required to take part in the promotion. "We are so excited to be a part of Norwalk," owner Adam Sample said. "We look forward to serving you all and building meaningful relationships with the community, which has already been very welcoming." The Norwalk store is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. Founded in 1956 in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, Jersey Mike's has expanded to more than 3,200 locations across the United States and Canada. The chain is known for preparing sandwiches with meats and cheeses sliced in-store and served on baked bread. The company also promotes charitable giving through community partnerships and fundraising events tied to local organizations, the release states.
