Library gets garden grant

Editor's note: Monroville Public Library was one of four state libraries recently selected to receive a Library Services and Technology Act grant funded through the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services. MONROEVILLE — The Monroeville Public Library is proud to announce that it has been awarded $4,975 in grant funding to support the development of a pollinator garden and related educational programming at the library. This project will create a dedicated pollinator habitat on library grounds designed to support bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinators while serving as an outdoor learning space for the community. The garden will feature native plants selected to provide food and shelter for pollinators throughout the growing season, making Monroeville Public Library an official Monarch Waystation. In addition to the garden installation, the library will host hands-on educational programs and workshops focused on pollinators, native plants, and the importance of protecting local ecosystems. Programs will be designed for community members of all ages and will encourage families, gardeners, and students to learn how they can create pollinator-friendly spaces at home. The library is excited to expand our educational offerings beyond the walls of the building. This pollinator garden will be both a beautiful addition to the library grounds and a living classroom where community members can learn about the vital role pollinators play in our environment. The pollinator garden project is expected to begin installation this year, with educational programs launching throughout the growing season.
