Seven earn OHSBCA District 6 first team

Seven area standouts, including five in Division VII, earned first-team recognition by the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association District 6 teams, released on Feb. 17. Plymouth senior Jarrett Burrer was selected as the Player of the Year in Div. VII. He averaged 19 points and 10.3 rebounds per game during the regular season for the Big Red (15-8, 9-5). Burrer also surpassed the 1,000-point mark this season and will lead Plymouth into a district semifinal on Thursday against Tiffin Calvert (15-8). Also earning first team in the division were Monroeville senior teammates Cole Perry and Maverick Myers. Perry averaged 12.8 points and 10 rebounds per game during the regular season, while Myers averaged 14.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per contest. The Eagles (18-5, 11-3) won their first Firelands Conference title in 42 years this season and are in a district semifinal on Thursday against Oregon Cardinal Stritch (14-9). St. Paul senior Landon Fries landed a spot on the first team. He averaged 17.6 points per game for the Flyers (12-11), which helped him finish among the top 20 in the program for points in a season and career. South Central's Bryan Chaffee was the last FC standout on the first team. He helped the Trojans into a district semifinal against Crestline (13-10) this Thursday after he averaged 18 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 2.7 steals per game during the regular season. Earning second team included Plymouth sophomore Izaya Reynolds, who averaged 14 points and 8.6 rebounds this season. Also on the second team were South Central senior Wes June (16.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists) and St. Paul junior Nate Griffin (14.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists). Monroeville senior Derek Ackerman (10.1 points, 5.1 rebounds) was an honorable mention choice. In Div. V, Willard sophomore Jaxson Hall was the lone underclassman selected to the first team. He helped lead Willard to an 18-4 mark in the regular season by averaging 21.5 points, three rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 2.2 steals per game. Hall shot 54 percent from the floor during the regular season. Also on the first team was Edison senior guard Cole Leimeister. He averaged 20.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. In the tournament, Leimeister surpassed 1,000 career points. He finished with 1,023 points for the Chargers, and his 106 career three-pointers is also a program record. Earning second team were two teammates of Hall and Leimeister in Willard senior Mason Dawson (12.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists per game) and Edison senior Coltyn Meagrow (18.1 points, 9.0 rebounds). Also on the second team was Western Reserve senior Chase Hipp (13.3 points). In Div.
