Kiwanis students of the month named

NORWALK — Local Kiwanis groups recently named students of the month. Norwalk Kiwanis Club selected these three students for the month of February. Here is information provided on the trio: Kayli Bergman Kayli Bergman is the daughter of Amy Bergman. She has been involved in track, cross country, and National Honors Society at the high school. Outside of school, Kayli is involved in skiing, running, ice skating, hiking, and traveling. She also has her private pilot license and instrument pilot rating. Kayli has been named to the Principal's List for all four years of high school, and named Elks Student of the Month. She has earned varsity letters in track and cross country. Her additional awards include the Coach's Award in track and cross country and an Impact Leadership Award. She is currently an Instrument Rated Private Pilot, working towards her Commercial Pilot License. Kayli plans to attend Bowling Green State University in the fall. She is working to become a certified flight instructor in the next few months in order to instruct throughout her college years. Her long term goal is to become an airline pilot for a major airline. Paige Houser Paige Houser is the daughter of Bobbie Houser and Ron Houser. During her time at Norwalk High School, she has been involved in National Honors Society. She was named to the Principal's List during her freshman year, and honor roll during her sophomore and junior years. Paige also has participated in the College Credit Plus program and taken college classes through Bowling Green State University's Firelands campus. She is committed to attending The Ohio State University in the fall. Her future plans include majoring in psychology, going to law school, and becoming a criminal defence attorney. Mia Chicotel Mia Chicotel is the daughter of Judy Dukes, and Gretel and Joe Chicotel. Mia is a full-time College Credit Plus student and takes classes at Bowling Green State University's Firelands campus. Outside of school, Mia works up to 25 hours a week. During her time at Norwalk High School, she participated in girls tennis, and was named to the Principal's List for her freshman and sophomore years. Mia recently applied to BGSU Firelands diagnostic medical sonography program, and hopes to begin there this fall. She plans to specialize in OBGYN and work in hospitals all over the country. Berlin Heights Kiwanis also named Tyler Pounds its February Student of the Month at Edison High School and provided information on him: Tyler Pounds Pounds activities and achievements: track; varsity golf (received Most-Improved and Coach's Awards); drama club (received two Outstanding Performance, one Outstanding Creativity Awards, lead roles in three plays, set and light crew member); International Thespian Society member; choir (section leader and senior representative, Student of the Quarter, 1 rating in Solo & Ensemble); show choir; Teen Leadership Corps and publications videographer and photographer; honor roll recipient; 2025 Homecoming King; Boy Scouts (Senior Patrol Leader of Berlin Heights Scouting America Troop 236, earned Order of the Arrow, Brotherhood and Eagle Scout Rank in 2025); sound tech/livestream technician at Norwalk Alliance Church; Thomas Edison Birthplace Museum tour guide; 4H (Health & Safety Leader for Northside Country Kids 4H Club and received 1st place at the state fair in cooking). He plans to study film production and directing to eventually start a professional career in the film industry.
