South Central wins at Black River

SULLIVAN — The South Central girls basketball team jumped on host Black River from the start in a 51-31 win over the Pirates on Saturday in non-league play. The Trojans (5-16) led 20-11 after one quarter, then extended their lead to 30-17 by halftime. South Central outscored Black River (6-14) by a 21-14 margin in the second half to win going away. Falynn Schumacher led a balanced scoring attack with 12 points for the Trojans. Kaili Ingram and Kenlea Blair each had 10 points, while Emily Lamoreaux added nine points. The Trojans (1-12 FC) are scheduled to host Monroeville on Thursday in their regular season finale. Monroeville 39, Oberlin 33 OBERLIN — The Eagles trailed by seven points entering the fourth quarter before closing the game on an 18-5 scoring run for a non-league win on Saturday. Monroeville (6-14) was led by Sophia Stieber with 18 points, followed by Taylor Scheid with nine. The Eagles are at Mapleton (15-4, 10-2) on Tuesday before closing the season against the Trojans on Thursday in Greenwich.
