Western routs St. Paul for 10th win

COLLINS — The Western Reserve girls basketball team made a 43-point swing from the first time it took on St. Paul with Saturday's 51-23 win in Firelands Conference action. In the first meeting on Dec. 23, the Flyers claimed a 32-17 win in Norwalk. In Saturday's win, the Roughriders (10-8, 7-5) got 12 points from Kara Woodruff, while both Lilli Jarrett and Layken Barnhart each scored nine points. St. Paul fell to 9-11 overall and 6-6 in the FC with the loss. Western entertains St. Mary Central Catholic on Tuesday, while St. Paul is off until it visits Plymouth on Friday. ST. New London 61, Monroeville 36 NEW LONDON — The Wildcats extended their FC win streak to 40 consecutive games with Saturday's win over the host Eagles. The streak is believed to be the longest in FC girls basketball history. NL (16-3, 11-0) needs two wins to clinch at least a share of its third straight conference title. The Wildcats led 29-19 at halftime before outscoring the Eagles (5-13, 3-9) by 12 in the third quarter. Gracie Thomas scored a game-high 21 points for New London, while Olivia Yetter had 12. Monroeville was led by Sophia Stieber with 13 points and Lilly Stein with 10. The Eagles host Hillsdale on Wednesday and will head to Mapleton on Friday. New London travels to South Central on Friday.
