Norwalk falls to Clyde; WR, Monroeville win

NORWALK — The Norwalk boys basketball team led by two after one quarter and trailed by six midway through the third quarter before visiting Clyde pulled away for an 82-51 win in SBC Lake Division play Friday night. The Fliers (7-8, 2-5 SBC Lake) trailed 19-17 after one quarter before taking a 38-29 lead into halftime. Clyde added a 23-13 edge in the third quarter to pull away. Xavier Saunders topped Norwalk (0-15, 0-7) with 16 points, while Kian Kreischer scored 13 points after making four 3-pointers. Nolan Jones also scored 10 points for the Truckers, who host Huron (5-11) Saturday night. Western (8-6, 6-3) got 19 points, four assists and three steals from Chase Hipp in the win. Hayden Dobias added 14 points, six rebounds, eight steals, and four assists. Also for Western, Tyler Wood had nine points and four rebounds, while Evan Goodwin added nine points, and Hayden Keith grabbed nine rebounds. The Roughriders led 16-12 after one quarter and 31-24 at halftime. They then used a 23-12 third quarter to take control. South Central (8-8, 3-7) was led by Brayden Viock with 14 points and seven rebounds. Wes June added 11 points and 10 rebounds. The Trojans host St. Mary Central Catholic (12-3) Saturday night. Derek Ackerman chipped in 12 points, and Ethan Pomerich had eight for the Eagles, who visit Buckeye Central (2-11) on Tuesday. Izaya Reynolds led Plymouth (12-3, 8-1) with 18 points.
