City keeps water, sewer rates steady

NORWALK — Water, sewer and stormwater rates for Norwalk city customers will remain unchanged in 2026, according to a press release from the city's utility blling office. City officials said water and sewer bills received in February for January usage will not reflect any rate increases. Rates approved for 2026 remain the same as those in effect during 2025. For customers inside Norwalk city limits, the minimum monthly charge for water usage of 1,000 gallons or less will remain $4.50. The minimum monthly sewer charge will remain $6, for a combined minimum monthly bill of $10.50. Water usage above 1,000 gallons within the city will continue to be billed at $0.90 per 100 gallons, while sewer usage above that amount will remain $1.20 per 100 gallons. Customers located outside the city limits who receive water and sewer services from the City of Norwalk will also see no changes in rates. The minimum monthly charge for water will remain $9, and the minimum sewer charge will remain $8.40, for a combined monthly minimum of $17.40. For usage exceeding 1,000 gallons outside city limits, water will continue to be billed at $1.80 per 100 gallons, and sewer service will remain $1.68 per 100 gallons. Stormwater rates will also remain unchanged. The city will continue to charge $1.50 per equivalent residential unit. According to the press release, water and sewer rates are reviewed annually based on changes in the budgets for water and sewer facilities, as well as average customer consumption over the previous three-year period, as required by city ordinance.
