Norwalk dominates Perkins for Lake win

The Norwalk girls basketball team stopped a two-game skid with a dominating defensive performance in a 59-13 win over visiting Perkins in an SBC Lake Division game Friday night at Norwalk High School. The Truckers improved to 7-4 overall and 4-1 in the league with the win. Emmie Leber scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to pace Norwalk, which led 18-4 after one quarter and 33-6 at halftime. The Truckers then outscored the Pirates (4-8, 2-3) by a 26-7 margin in the second half. Also for Norwalk, Trinity Lazzara had 14 points, seven assists, and four rebounds. Jo Jackson finished with 10 points and six rebounds, while Alyssa Gruhlke added seven points, four rebounds, and four assists. Bella Hernandez added five steals for Norwalk, which shot 24 of 60 from the floor while limiting the Pirates to just 4-of-25 shooting and three offensive rebounds. Norwalk will play three road games next week at Lexington (1-11) on Tuesday, at Mansfield Madison (7-6) on Thursday, and at Sandusky (1-8, 0-3) next Saturday in a league game.
