County's emergency alert system to be replaced

Huron County is transitioning to a new emergency alert system, and those who want to continue receiving or begin receiving notifications are encouraged to register. The previous emergency alert system, WENS, is being discontinued and replaced with a new system, called Regroup, according to a release from the Huron County Emergency Management Agency. The transition will occur on Monday, Jan. 19, and users must register on Regroup by then to continue receiving alerts. "We strongly encourage all residents to sign up as soon as possible to ensure uninterrupted access to critical emergency information," the release states. People can recieve emergency notifications for events like: • Road and traffic alerts • Snow advisory alerts • Weather alerts The agency provided instructions on how users can sign up for Regroup, which can be done in one of two ways: Full account sign-up • Create an account by visiting: huroncountyema.app.regroup.com/contacts/sign_up. • After registering, please verify your email address (check your junk or spam folder if necessary). • Once verified, log in at: huroncountyema.app.regroup.com/login. • After logging in, update your contact preferences and manage your alert subscriptions. • You may then download the Regroup mobile app and sign in using the network name "HuronCountyEMA."
