NL extends FC win streak to 34

GREENWICH — The New London girls basketball team cruised to a 49-7 win over host South Central Tuesday night to extend its Firelands Conference win streak to 34 in a row. New London led 15-2 after one quarter and 30-2 at halftime in improving to 9-2 overall and 5-0 in the FC, which sets up a huge showdown at 1:30 p.m. Saturday vs. Mapleton (9-1, 5-0) for sole possession of first place. In Tuesday's win, Raeann Mitchell and Valery Henry each scored 11 points for the Wildcats, while Olivia Yetter and Pailee Wilson each scored nine points. South Central fell to 5-6 overall and 1-4 in the FC with the loss. The Trojans visit Monroeville Saturday.
