Booth's double-double paces Edison

MILAN — The Edison girls basketball team dominated the middle two quarters of a 56-22 win over visiting Bucyrus in non-league play Wednesday night. The Chargers turned a 7-4 lead after one quarter to 26-12 at halftime and 48-19 through three quarters. For Edison, Ella Booth scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double. Taylor Moore had 11 points, seven assists and five steals, while Stella Brown had six points, six rebounds, and five steals. Edison will host Willard in SBC Bay Division play on Friday. BOYS BASKETBALL Plymouth 75, Monroeville 72 MONROEVILLE — The Big Red rallied from a 13-point deficit after one quarter, and from a six-point deficit entering the final eight minutes of Tuesday's Firelands Conference win over the host Eagles. Jarrett Burrer paced the Big Red with 20 points, while Izayah Renholds scored 13 points, Cainan Kilgore scored 12, and Keegan Beverly added nine. For the Eagles (0-1, 0-1), Cole Perry scored a game-high 22 points. He was followed by Maverick Myers with 14, Ethan Poermich with 13, and Link Schaffer-Paull with 10. SWIMMING St. Paul hosts tri-meet NORWALK — The Flyers swept both Huron (74-29) and Danbury (75-19) on the girls meet Wednesday at the Ernsthausen Rec Center. Elaina Corriel won the 100-yard freestyle in 1:02.44 and the 100 backstroke in 1:07.81. Kennedie Frazee took first in the 200 IM (2:34.57), as did Jocelyn Welter in the 50 free (28.72). Also for St. Paul, Allison Talbot won the 500 free (7:08.13) and Sarah Gocsik won the 100 breaststroke in 1:28.16. In relays, the 200 medley of Corriel, Sarah Gocsik, Frazee and Welter won in 2:09.8. The 200 free relay of Elsie Shumaker, Kegney Stoll, Sydney Wurzel, and Jessica Matlack had the top time in 2:14.11, and the 400 free of Frazee, Welter, Coriell and Sarah Gocsik won in 4:28.62. St. Paul beat Danbury, 37-19, but fell to the Tigers, 63-19, on the boys side. Placing first for the Flyer boys was Connor Roll in the 100 free (1:07.5). BOWLING Willard, Seneca East split WILLARD — The Crimson Flashes picked up a win in the girls match Tuesday at Dynasty Lanes against the visiting Tigers. For Willard (4-1), Kendall Kelley rolled a 176-193—369, followed by Emma Steinmetz with a 144-167—311, Shay Bolen with a 132-178—311, Emma Whitright with a 111-138—249, and Ava Deel with a 126-120—246. Willard lost the boys match by 454 pins to fall to 1-5. Connor Metro led the Flashes with a 167-200—367 series. He was followed by Colton Metro (131-142—273), Liam Wolfe (140-141—281), and Zac Janeczak (115-117—232). JUNIOR HIGH NMS hoops faces Clyde The Norwalk eighth-grade boys basketball team suffered a 56-44 loss to Clyde on Wednesday at the NMS gym. Blake Muskovich scored 21 points for Norwalk (2-1), which also got 10 points from Jacob Tyler. Benny Sellers had six points, while Jose Benavides had three. Maddox Gamble and Bryson Risner each scored two points. In the seventh-grade game, the Truckers cruised to a 41-16 victory behind 16 points from Gamble. Wes Pittenger added seven points and Sellers scored six. Lincoln King, Ethan Jones and Eli Schmidt each scored four points. The NMS boys will visit Vermilion on Monday. The NMS eighth-grade girls claimed a 34-32 road win over the Fliers on Wednesday. Stella Kipp scored 11 points for the Truckers (3-0, 2-0), followed by Lexi Schmidt with 10 and Lillian Kipp with six. Also for NMS, Brynn Sellers had three points, followed by Londynn Clifton and Addison Hance with two points each. The NMS seventh-grade girls improved to 3-0 with a 30-18 win. Schmidt led the team with 10 points. Kayla Naseman had eight points, followed by Addie Hance with six, and Ella Ames (4) and Grace Emmons (2). The NMS girls will host Vermilion on Monday.
