Look forward to Light Up Norwalk

NORWALK — Norwalk-area residents can kick the holiday season into high gear with Light Up Norwalk later this month. The annual event returns to the Maple City from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29. "It's a free event for everyone — so grab your mittens and come enjoy," the Norwalk Area Visitor's Bureau posted online. "Let's make Main Street merry and bright together." Many attractions are planned for Light Up Norwalk, including: • An iceless skating rink • Food and drink, including s'mores, hot chocolate and more • Crafts • Music • A pop-up bar • The lighted golf cart parade Note: The parade starts at 7:30 p.m. Those participating must have street-legal and licensed carts. Pre-registration is not required, and the lineup will take place from 6-7 p.m. at the rear parking lot of City Hall at the intersection of North Linwood Avenue and East Monroe Street. • Norwalk's Christmas tree lighting Light Up Norwalk will also feature carriage rides drawn by Clydesdale horses. "Don't miss your chance to see them up close," the visitor's bureau said. Photo provided by City of Norwalk Light Up Norwalk will culminate with the lighting up of the city's Christmas Tree on Main Street. This year's tree was donated by Sharon and Phillip Ralston, Mayor Dave Light said. It was delivered and set up late last week, in preparation for the event. Light thanked the city's general services department, Riley's Crane Service and Smith's Tree Service for their work on setting up the tree. "Because of your efforts, Norwalk will once again shine bright for the holiday season," he said.
