Willard park gets a boost

WILLARD — The Creating Healthy Communities program at Huron County Public Health is excited to announce the opening of Willard City Park's newly renovated section, Kiddie Land. Huron County Creating Healthy Communities funds were used to purchase an inclusive playground spinner. Although the project is not fully finished, Kiddie Land is ready to be safely opened to the public. Note that there will be periods of light construction in which certain areas may be closed off for the installation of tables, benches and a new fence. Please avoid these areas during times of construction. An official ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place next spring: please follow the City of Willard's social media page for more information to come. Huron County Public Health would like to thank the City of Willard and Kim Williams who helped to make this project possible. The City of Willard has done an incredible job of making improvements to the city and aligning their values with Creating Healthy Communities' mission to increase opportunities for active living in our community. The City of Willard also partnered with many other groups that helped bring Kiddie Land to life: Willard City Council, Huron County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Ohio Department of Natural Resources (Capital Grant), Blossom City Fence (Dan Niedermeier), Landscape Structures (Penchura Playground Equipment), Maxx Turf Company, F.E. Kroca & Associates Surveying, Willard Parks and Recreation, Willard Public Works, and the Willard Maintenance Department. These groups provided tremendous support in the making of Kiddie Land.
