Norwalk, St. Paul girls among regional qualifiers

The Norwalk and St. Paul girls cross country teams advanced to the regional championship meets next week with their showings at their respective district meets on Saturday. In Division II, Norwalk was fifth with 143 points at the Owens Community College course in Findlay. Saige Konik paced the Truckers in 10th place in 20:36.03. Olive Leavitt (20:56) was 14th and Grace Norris (21:36) was 20th. Raelyn Konik (24:21) was 49th and Allison Konik (24:26) was 52nd, followed by Anna Whaley (25:31) and Maddison Trenor (25:33) in 66th and 68th, respectively. In the boys race, Norwalk missed advancing as a team by four points, but advanced four runners as qualifiers. That group includes Casey Kromer (17:56) in 15th, Nolan Jones (18:08) in 20th, Jason Cruz Segovia (18:11) in 21st, and Tristan Biddinger (19:26) in 47th. In Div. IV at Galion, St. Paul scored 85 points to finish second to Crestview (46). New London (98) was fifth and Plymouth (133) was seventh. Kate Ware paced the Flyers in 16th (22:15), while Frances Donnelly (23:05) was 20th and Jenny Schwan (23:05) was 21st. Deanna Vazquez finished 27th in 23:27. Also for St. Paul, Scarlett Ross (24:33) was 39th, followed by Anna Wright (24:33) in 40th, and Charlotte Hosack (25:15) in 45th. New London's Valery Henry was second overall in 20:28 and teammate Hailey Crockett (20:54) was fourth. Lydia Geist (23:14) finished 22nd. Paiton Shepherd was also 49th for NL in 26 minutes. Plymouth was paced by Morgan Follett (23:32) in 28th and Audrey Smith (23:54) in 32nd. Anna Caugenbaugh (24:25) was 36th and Kristi Yeager (24:31) was 37th. For Western, Kara Woodruff was 19th in 22:47 and Allyson Goebbel (23:22) placed 25th. Monroeville's Kenley Schafer advanced from 13th place (21:52). On the boys side in Div. IV, New London was fifth and Western seventh to advance a teams. Carter Hicks was third for the Wildcats in 16:38. Ryan Twining (18:09) was 17th, followed by Kaden McMaster (19:09) in 32nd and Jaxson Schaffer (19:24) in 35th. Brice Caudill (18:39) was 25th and Jaxon Dalton 918:55) was 27th for Western. Levi Wolf (19:32) was 37th. Jacob Collins was 39th (19:40) for St. Paul and Weston Smith (20:07) was 48th for Plymouth. Also at Galion, both Willard and Edison's girls teams advanced from the Div. III races. The Crimson Flashes and Chargers grabbed the final two spots in fifth and sixth, respectively. Keilly Hernandez Rojas was 14th for Willard in 21:37. Closely bunched together was Kaylee Tenore (22:36) in 24th, Helen Acosta (22:53) in 25th, Ilina Detterman (23:19) in 30th, Genesis Arce (23:34) in 33rd, Salaeyah Odom (24:18) in 38th, and Audrey Yonley (24:45) in 43rd. Claire Michaelis was 12th overall for Edison in 21:08, while Lily Risner (22:27) was 20th and Aili Corfman (22:34) was 23rd. Ava Gardner (24:05) was 37th, and Natalie Brock (24:29) was 41st. In the boys race, Edison easily advanced by scoring 53 points to finish second behind Upper Sandusky (44). Mason Leber (17:42) was seventh for the Chargers, while Kellen McDonnell (17:49) was ninth and Logan Facemire (18:08) was 10th. Also for Edison, Colin Butler (18:39) was 14th, Caleb Jeremay (18:39) was 15th, and Liam Chase (18:52) was 18th. Advancing for Willard was Dream Mills (18:54) in 19th, Lucas Winans (20:04) in 27th, Riley Branham (20:35) in 32nd, Nick Adkins (20:52) in 36th, and Ethan Adams (21:18) in 39th.
