Golden Tickets shine in Norwalk

NORWALK — The Norwalk Middle School Drama Club brought color, music, and plenty of candy to the stage with its 2026 production of Willy Wonka Jr. last weekend. Presented at the Ernsthausen Performing Arts Center, the show featured over 70 sixth- through eighth-grade students in acting, singing, dancing, and backstage support roles. This adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic story followed young Charlie Bucket's adventure inside Willy Wonka's magical chocolate factory. The play included bright sets, handmade candy props, and lively musical numbers. Parents, teachers and volunteers helped with costumes and set design, contributing to what became a full-school effort, according to Robyn Rogers, Norwalk High School Theatre and Drama Director. Both performances drew packed audiences and strong support from families and theater lovers. The show continued a growing tradition of middle school theater in Norwalk Schools, giving students a creative outlet and stage experience that builds confidence and teamwork. The next performance at the Ernsthausen Performing Arts Center will be the Norwalk High School Drama Club's rendition of The Brothers' Grimm on Oct. 25-26.
