St. Paul scores road sweep over Old Fort

OLD FORT — The St. Paul volleyball team picked up a big three-set road sweep over Old Fort Wednesday night in a non-conference match. The Flyers improved to 14-6 overall after they posted scores of 25-16, 25-15, and 26-24. St. Paul trailed the Stockaders (14-5) by an 8-0 score in the third set before going on a 26-16 run to close it out. Brooklyn Cassidy finished with 11 kills at the net, followed by Ella Kalizewski with 10 kills and four blocks, and Shealyn Deeter with nine kills. Setter Annie Friend had 28 assists, but also added five blocks at the net and had eight digs. Also for St. Paul, Lily Cuturic was 19-for-20 serving with three aces and had 24 digs. Kegney Stoll was 13-for-14 serving with an ace and Cassidy was 10-for-12 serving with an ace and also had 10 digs. St. Paul visits New London Thursday and Edison on Saturday to close out the regular season. JUNIOR HIGH NMS teams beat Bellevue NORWALK — The Norwalk Middle School volleyball teams beat Bellevue in the SBC Lake Division regular season finale Wednesday afternoon. The eighth-grade team improved to 11-5 overall and 8-2 in the Lake with a two-set win, posting scores of 25-16 and 25-19. Kalli Oates led the hitting with seven kills, while Lilli Kipp had five, Londynn Clifton had three, and Brynn Sellers and Harper Reamer each had two. Laney Schlotterer added a kill with two blocks. Oates had three digs, while Sellers, Stella Kipp, Mia Helton and Olivia Roth also contributed on defense. Sellers, Helton, and both Lilli and Stella Kipp were 100 percent servers. Norwalk has a bye in the Lake Division tournament at Sandusky on Saturday. The Truckers will face Clyde or Sandusky at 10 a.m. The seventh-grade Truckers outlasted the Lady Red in three sets, 25-7, 19-25, 25-6, to improve to 14-2. In the opening set, the Truckers came out strong with dominant net play from Lexi Schmidt and Ella Ames off of assists from Kayla Naseman and Addie Hance. Adelinn Sitterly, Kara Russ, and Ames led the defense. The second set saw Liza Ringenberg lead the defense, while Kendall Khaledi added key serves. In the decisive third set, Norwalk's Sitterly served for 10 straight points, capped by a crucial ace from Melanie Havens, helping the Truckers seal the match. GIRLS SOCCER Edison 5, Vermilion 2 VERMILION — The Chargers improved to 5-10-2 overall and 5-5-1 in the Sandusky Bay Conference with Wednesday's win over the host Sailors. Joy Jordan finished with two goals and two assists for the Chargers. Sophia Baker, Kailyn Dickman, and Kellyn Ritchie each had a goal and an assist. Ella Rogers had six saves at goalkeeper.
