Monroeville wraps up FC title outright

MONROEVILLE — The state-ranked Monroeville volleyball team clinched the Firelands Conference championship outright with Tuesday's four-set win at host New London. The Eagles — ranked No. 5 in the latest state coaches poll in Division VII — posted scores of 25-18, 24-26, 25-15, and 25-22. The Eagles have won four straight FC titles for the first time in program history. For Monroeville (18-2, 13-0), Ady Adams and Madi Reiber each had 13 kills, followed by Alexa Adams with eight and Riley Platte and Gabby Loose with seven each. Kaci Poths finished with 26 assists and Addison Lyons had 17. Defensively, Addison Homan had 30 digs and Maddy Miller and Poths each had 16. Lyons added 12 digs and Alexa Adams had 11. Alexa and Ady Adams each served four aces, and Miller had three. For New London (11-10, 6-7), Pailee Wilson had 20 kills, three blocks and 10 digs. Gracie Thomas finished with 11 kills, 18 assists and 15 digs, while Addison better had six kills and 17 digs, and Ava Ringler led the defense with 33 digs. Monroeville also improved to 17-3 overall and 12-1 in junior varsity with a two-set win, 25-12, 25-17. St. Paul 3, Crestview 0 NORWALK — After needing five sets in the first meeting, the Lady Flyers swept the Cougars in Tuesday's rematch at home in FC play. For St. Paul (14-6, 11-2), Brooklyn Cassidy finished with 11 kills and was 6-for-7 serving with an ace. Ella Kalizewski and Kegney Stoll each had six kills, and Shealyn Deeter added four. Annie Friend had 21 assists, 12 digs, and was 10-for-10 serving with an ace for the Flyers. Taegen Mansfield-Bush finished with 10 digs and served 7-for-9 with two aces. Lily Cuturic added seven digs and Stoll had six. It was Senior Night for the Flyers, which included Cuturic, Bella Guerra, Deeter, Mansfield-Bush and Stoll. St. Paul has a non-league test Wednesday at Old Fort (14-4). Western Reserve 3, Plymouth 0 COLLINS — The Roughriders (12-9, 7-6) won in a sweep over the Big Red Tuesday night. Western posted scores of 25-19, 25-6, and 25-10 as the Big Red fell to 3-18 (0-13). Drew Clemons had seven kills and Stella Blake had six for the 'Riders. Jamie Muenz finished with 21 assists and 12 digs, while Emma Hammond served 13 points and Kendall Warthling added 10 points. Willard 3, Edison 0 WILLARD — The Crimson Flashes are one win away from clinching no worse than a share of the SBC Bay Division title for a final time after Tuesday's win over the Chargers. Willard posted scores of 25-9, 25-9, 22-25, and 25-19. The Flashes (17-3, 8-1) are tied with Huron (15-5, 7-1) with one league match remaining Thursday vs.Margaretta. Camryn Wiers had 12 assists, 10 kills and eight digs for Willard. Leah Weiss was 18-for-19 serving with 12 points and an ace, and had 10 kills and 10 digs. Teagan Schaffer was 25-for-26 serving with 20 points and seven aces, and also had seven kills and six digs. Also for the Flashes, Mya Stephens was 18-for-18 serving with 12 points and three aces, and also had 27 assists and 17 digs. Natalie Slone had 17 kills and 14 digs, while Alexis Rettig was 14-for-15 serving with nine points and nine digs. For Edison (8-12, 4-5), Taylor Moore had 16 digs, 10 points and two aces. Dana Preston had eight kills, followed by Ella Booth with seven, and Macari Harris with five kills and four blocks. Also for Edison, Paige McFadden had 11 assists, and Peyton Bissell had seven assists along with six points and three aces. Stella Brown added 10 digs and Abby Cloud had four kills.
