Norwalk boys soccer caps big week

OAK HARBOR — The Norwalk boys soccer team capped a 3-0 week with a shutout win, 4-0, on Saturday at Oak Harbor. The non-league win improved the Truckers to 9-5 overall after they scored a pair of goals in each half. Landon Ferkel scored twice, while Noah Jameson and Cruz Santiago also found the back of the net. Johan Ramos and Jack Pittenger each had an assist. On Oct. 2, the Truckers blasted Clyde, 10-0, to improve to 8-1 in the Sandusky Bay Conference. Ferkel scored twice, while Jameson, Ramos, Casey Kromer, Corbin Sigg, Kingston Gonzales, Connor Nickle, Aiden Khan, Roman Snyder and Josue Ramos scored one goal each. Santiago and Gonzalez added assists, and Abe Linder made two saves at goalkeeper. Norwalk trails Perkins (10-0-2, 8-0-1) and Edison (14-0-1, 8-0-1) in the SBC standings. The Truckers entertain Old Fort (5-6-3, 4-3-2) Monday and then host the Pirates at 7 p.m. Wednesday. GIRLS SOCCER Oak Harbor 3, Norwalk 0 OAK HARBOR — The Rockets (10-3-2) kept the pressure on the visiting Truckers from start to finish in Saturday's non-league win. Norwalk (11-3-1) got 18 saves from Becca Farmer in the loss. The Truckers (9-1 SBC) trail Woodmore (12-1-1, 9-0) in the SBC standings ahead of Wednesday's 5 p.m. home match against Perkins (12-2, 8-1). The Wildcats beat both the Truckers and Pirates. VOLLEYBALL St. Paul 3, Ashland 0 ASHLAND — The Lady Flyers swept the Div. III Arrows in three sets for a non-league win Saturday morning. St. Paul (13-6) posted scores of 25-18, 25-18, and 25-20. Ella Kalizewski finished with 14 kills and was 12-for-12 serving with an ace, and added eight digs. Annie Friend had 40 assists, was 12-for-14 serving with two aces, and had 15 digs Also for St. Paul, Brooklyn Cassidy was 16-for-17 serving with five aces, and added 16 digs and five kills, while Kegney Stoll was 15-for-15 serving with three aces and added four kills. Lily Cuturic also had 16 digs and Bella Guerra had 13. St. Paul (10-2 Firelands Conference) hosts Crestview (15-5, 8-4) on Tuesday.
