Monroeville, St. Paul win ahead of rematch

GREENWICH — The state-ranked Monroeville volleyball topped host South Central in four sets to stay unbeaten in FC play Tuesday. Monroeville (16-2, 11-0) — ranked No. 5 in the latest Division VII state coaches poll — posted scores of 25-18, 25-20, 19-25, and 25-23. The Eagles got balance at the net once again, as Alexa Adams had 15 kills and four blocks, and Madi Reiber and Riley Platte each had 10 kills. Ady Adams and Gabby Loose each had eight kills, and Haylee Morman had six. Addison Lyons finished with 25 assists and Kaci Poths had 24. Addison Homan led the defense with 33 digs, followed by Maddy Miller and Reiber with 13 each, while Lyons had 12 and Poths finished with 11. For South Central (6-12, 3-8), Autumn Fry finished with 15 kills and five blocks, while Kenlea Blair had 10 kills. Chloe Beverly added seven kills and seven digs, while Bry Lopez was 17-for-17 serving with two aces and had 18 digs. Also for the Trojans, Keragin Gray was 17-for-17 serving with three aces, 19 assists, and eight digs. In the junior varsity match, Monroeville (16-2, 11-0) won in three, 20-25, 25-17, and 25-15. St. Paul 3, Plymouth 0 PLYMOUTH — The Lady Flyers kept pace in the FC standings by sweeping the host Big Red Tuesday night. St. Paul (11-5, 10-1) won by scores of 25-13, 25-14, and 25-18. The Lady Flyers host Monroeville (16-2, 11-0) Thursday and need a win to force a first-place tie. In Tuesday's win, Shealyn Deeter had 14 kills and Ella Kalizewski added 12. Annie Friend had 32 assists, while Bella Guerra had 12 digs. Kate Stieber, Taegan Mansfield-Bush and Ryleigh Mansfield-Bush each had eight digs, while Ryleigh Mansfield-Bush was also 21-for-22 serving. Kegney Stoll also had five kills for St. Paul. New London 3, W. Reserve 2 NEW LONDON — The Wildcats won the final two sets to outlast the Roughriders in Tuesday's FC match. New London posted scores of 25-11, 17-25, 26-28, 26-24, and 15-9. For New London (11-8, 6-5), Pailee Wilson had 21 kills to reach the 1,000 mark for her career. Gracie Thomas added 18 kills with 24 digs and 20 assists, while Harper Clemons also had 27 assists. Also for the 'Cats, Brooke Clouse had six kills, Addison Yetter had six aces and 16 digs, and Ava Ringler finished with 25 assists. For Western (10-8, 5-6), Emma Hammond had 15 kills and served 15 points. Drew Clemons had 11 kills and finished with a team-high 25 digs. Jamie Muenz had 32 assists and 19 digs, and also served eight points. Vermilion 3, Edison 1 VERMILION — The Chargers fell to 8-10 overall and 4-3 in the league with Tuesday's road SBC Bay Division loss to the host Sailors. Vermilion (6-12, 2-5) posted scores of 25-22, 15-25, 25-20, and 25-10. For Edison, Macari Harris had six kills and three blocks, whiel Dana Preston had five kills, eight points and four aces. Abby Cloud added four kills at the net, while Peyton Bissell and Paige McFadden each had 10 assists. Also for the Chargers, Taylor Moore had 18 digs and seven points, while Stella Brown had 11 digs, and Ella Booth finished with three kills, eight points and seven digs. Edison travels to first place Willard on Tuesday in league play. Clyde 3, Norwalk 1 NORWALK — The Truckers took a critical loss in the SBC Lake Division with Tuesday's setback to the visiting Fliers at NHS. Clyde (6-13, 2-5) posted scores of 25-21, 25-23, 18-25, and 25-22. With the loss, Norwalk fell to 9-7 overall and 4-3 in the league. The Truckers are now one match behind Bellevue, Perkins and Tiffin Columbian in the league race ahead of hosting the Tornadoes on Thursday. In Tuesday's loss, Emily Tyler had 25 assists, 11 digs, and was 10-for-10 serving. Ainslee King had seven kills and was 12-for-13 serving with an ace, while Lola Schlotterer was 26-for-28 serving with five aces and had 27 digs. Also for Norwalk, Reagan Mooney was 13-for-13 serving with an ace and had 17 digs. Sawyer Wineman had 31 digs, and Maddie Gamble had 11.
